On Wednesday, Professor Pamela Karlan — a legal scholar who testified at the latest impeachment hearing — brought up Barron Trump, the president’s youngest son, in a distasteful play-on-words.
Now, she wants everyone to know that she’s sorry for making such a comment.
Early in the afternoon, Karlan originally said: “I’ll just give you one example that shows you the difference between him and a king which is, the Constitution says there can be no titles of nobility. So while the President can name his son Barron, he can’t make him a baron.”
Almost immediately, First Lady Melania Trump spoke out on Twitter, saying that a “child deserves privacy and should be kept out of politics. Pamela Karlan, you should be ashamed of your very angry and obviously biased public pandering, and using a child to do it.”

Now, Karlan is saying sorry. As the hearing wrapped up, Karlan stated, “I want to apologize for what I said earlier about the president’s son. It was wrong of me to do that.”

However, she immediately followed up by asking the president to apologize for the “things he’s done wrong.” Whether or not Americans believe her apology is genuine or not will be up to each individual to decide.
