We all have that one friend or family member who we constantly bug to try out for a show like “American Idol” or “The Voice” due to their natural ability to carry a tune.
But as I scrolled through my Facebook feed today, I came across a U.S. Army soldier who probably hears the same thing from his friends and family on a regular basis, as his singing voice leaves no wonder as to why a clip of him singing Lee Greenwood’s “Proud To Be An American” has racked up over 9 million views on Facebook alone.
The soldier, Mike Morgan, can be seen in the video below recording himself belting out a portion of the popular, patriotic song in what looks to be a military garage, presumably part of his Army unit.
I almost never pause and listen to these kind of videos — not because I don’t like to hear talented people sing, but because most of them are, well, average. At best.
But not Morgan. As you can hear for yourself, this humble U.S. service member has what most would call God-given talent and after a little more digging through his Facebook and YouTube profiles and watching him sing the National Anthem and other patriotic songs, if this guy isn’t signed by a country record label in the near future, well, someone will be missing out on top-level talent.
Not only does Morgan appear to be a member of the U.S. Armed Forces, but according to his personal Facebook page, he apparently works in local law enforcement — possibly as a Sheriff’s deputy. If we get clarification on that, we’ll update accordingly.
In the meantime, do yourself and Morgan a favor and keep spreading this talented young man’s unofficial audition video around the internet. He deserves to be recognized both for his service and his stunning vocal abilities.
If Lee Greenwood hasn’t seen this stunning video yet, hopefully this gets his attention!
