BET Founder Robert Johnson is not shying away from the good things President Donald Trump has done.
In fact, Johnson is so confident in what Trump has been able to accomplish in the last three years that he believes that the 2020 election is his to lose.
“I think the president has always been in a position where it’s his to lose based on his bringing a sort of disruptive force into what would be called political norms,” Johnson, who founded cable network Black Entertainment Television (BET), told Hadley Gamble of CNBC.
Johnson also explained that Trump’s ability to “dominate the news cycle” puts him far ahead of the competition. This causes rivals to stumble and focus on what the president says, rather than issues facing the American people — ultimately playing Democrats like a fiddle.
The BET Founder brought up the current slate of Democratic candidates seeking the nomination, saying that they “aren’t enough in the center” to take get the edge on Trump.
“If you take a snapshot today, I don’t think that group is capable of beating Trump despite what the polls say,” he said.
This falls right in line with recent polls from Gallup and Rasmussen showing the president continuing to climb with black voters, reaching a record high 34 percent approval rating last month with the demographic.
When asked if his praises mean he’ll be voting for the president in 2020, Johnson said: “It means that I’m going to speak my mind, speak in an independent way based on the facts and not try to get caught up in the politics.”
That’s what more Americans should do — Johnson should be applauded for being professional and objective about Trump. If more Americans followed in his footsteps, more people would begin to see the incredible economy Trump has built during his first four years in office.
America is ready for four more years of winning, which we still aren’t tired of yet.
