As House Speaker Nancy Pelosi continues to delay the impeachment proceedings, things might be going from bad to worse with her highly-contested congressional allies.
And former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie is seeing this right before his eyes in his home state.
On Sunday, during an interview on ABC’s “This Week,” Christie said that he believes Rep. Jeff Van Drew’s swap from Democrat to Republican could be a harbinger of what’s to come.
“You know what’s happening in blue New Jersey, a very blue state. Jeff Van Drew switches from Democrat to Republican, from the majority party to the minority party in the middle of impeachment because of impeachment,” Christie said. “Andy Kim, who won his seat two years ago, is now losing to Katie Gibbs, his Republican challenger. And Tom Malinowski is losing to Tom Kaine Jr., the son of the former governor.”
President Trump recently featured Van Drew in the Oval Office, where the announcement was made that he’s changing his affiliation from Democrat to Republican.
As for Pelosi’s stall tactics, it’s currently unknown how long she may withhold both articles of impeachment from Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell.
Pelosi says she’s looking for a “fair trial” in the Republican-controlled senate.
