It seems as if Democrats might not be totally finished with their attempt at impeaching President Donald Trump, as the House Judiciary Committee sent shockwaves through Capitol Hill on Monday after revealing the possibility of more articles of impeachment against Trump if a certain condition is met.
According to Breitbart, that condition rests on whether or not White House lawyer Don McGahn testifies. Apparently, according to House Democrats, if he does take the stand, more impeachment investigation could follow.
The news came out of a court briefing submitted by House Judiciary Committee on Monday, in which they explained why they require McGahn to offer his testimony in the Ukraine controversy.
“If McGahn’s testimony produces new evidence supporting the conclusion that President Trump committed impeachable offenses that are not covered by the Articles approved by the House, the Committee will proceed accordingly—including, if necessary, by considering whether to recommend new articles of impeachment,” the briefing read.
McGhan was called to testify by House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerry Nadler back in March, as the committee attempted to identify whether or not the president or top White House officials were committing any level of “obstruction of justice” with regard to Robert Mueller’s special Russia investigation.
Trump and the White House ordered McGahn to not comply with the Congressional subpoena and said he was covered by “absolute immunity.”

The Department of Justice responded to the Democrats’ request to the courts, claiming that the passing of the impeachment vote in the House essentially nullified any further reason for McGahn to appear as a witness.
“Indeed, if this Court now were to resolve the merits question in this case, it would appear to be weighing in on a contested issue in any impeachment trial,” a DOJ lawyer wrote. “That would be of questionable propriety whether or not such a judicial resolution preceded or post-dated any impeachment trial.”
