Tensions are riding high as the Senate impeachment trial looms, particularly between the media and Republican senators.
On Thursday, Arizona Sen. Martha McSally snapped on CNN Senior Congressional Correspondent Manu Raju, saying she wouldn’t talk to him because he was a “liberal hack.”
The exchange — which went down as McSally was walking to a hearing room — started when with Raju asking, “Senator McSally, should the Senate consider new evidence as part of the impeachment trial?”
“Manu, you’re a liberal hack,” McSally responded. “I’m not talking to you.”
“You’re not going to comment?” Raju replied.
“You’re a liberal hack,” McSally stated again.
Manu posted about the tense back-and-forth on Twitter, saying, “Sen. Martha McSally, a Republican facing a difficult election race, lashed out when I asked if she would consider new evidence as part of the Senate trial. ‘You’re a liberal hack – I’m not talking to you. You’re a liberal hack.’ She then walked into a hearing room.”
McSally then one-upped the CNN correspondent by replying to his tweet with a video of the exchange, refusing to back down:

The senate is expected to start the impeachment trial against President Donald Trump early next week, where Chief Supreme Court Justice John Roberts will oversee the proceedings.
It is still unclear how long the trial will take, but Sen. Lindsey Graham told Sean Hannity that believes the trial will take one week and end with Trump being acquitted.
