It seems as if many Democrats woke up Friday morning with an apparent soft spot in their hearts for Iran and the death of their top military commander, Gen. Qasem Soleimani. President Donald Trump was widely attacked by the left for greenlighting the drone attack that put a permanent end to Soleimani’s reign of anti-American terror across the region.
According to Daily Caller, Rep. Ilhan Omar — one of Trump’s most vocal critics in Congress — reacted on Friday morning to Trump’s victory, suggesting (with absolutely zero evidence to back her claim) that the precision military strike was nothing more than a distraction from Trump’s political matters, such as Trump’s ongoing impeachment.
Omar then called on her colleagues in Congress to prevent the president from potentially going to war with Iran, pledging herself to “stop him.”
So what if Trump wants war, knows this leads to war and needs the distraction?
Real question is, will those with congressional authority step in and stop him? I know I will. https://t.co/Fj9TMossEW

Omar’s tweet was in response to Democratic Sen. Chris Murphy — another rabid Trump-hating politician — who questioned Trump’s authority to carry out such a strike.
“Soleimani was an enemy of the United States. That’s not a question,” Murphy wrote. “The question is this – as reports suggest, did America just assassinate, without any congressional authorization, the second most powerful person in Iran, knowingly setting off a potential massive regional war?”
Murphy warned that the United States typically doesn’t carry out assassination missions of powerful foreign leaders as he claimed they typically lead to more American deaths due to potential harsh retaliation.
While Democrats, including former Vice President Joe Biden, were very careful in their wording to affirm that Soleimani was a dangerous threat to America and its allies, nearly every Democrat who spoke out on the matter used the situation as another method to criticize Trump’s foreign policy.
Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei promised “harsh” retaliation for the death of his top military commander.
