As House members prepare to take a formal vote on whether or not to impeach President Donald Trump, while Democrats may have initially believed that they were making the right move, it appears as if it’s going to come back and bite them in a big way come November 2020.
According to The Daily Caller, the fundraising arm of most elections, the Republican National Committee, has gained a staggering 600,000 new donors since the impeachment probe began, which equals untold amounts of fresh campaign money for 2020 that will be used to defeat Democratic challengers across the country.
Small donations, which make up a vast amount of total campaign funds, have increased like never before. In early December, Trump’s campaign and the RNC revealed that they received $10 million in small donations earlier in December right after Democrats drafted two articles of impeachment against the president.
And before that, upon the original announcement from House Speaker Nancy Pelosi that she was launching an impeachment inquiry into the president, Republicans managed to haul in $15 million in new donations within an impressive three-day span of time.
In contrast, the National Democratic Training Committee only managed to raise barely over $650,000 within a one-month time span during the impeachment debacle, painting at least a partial picture of which way Americans — from all sides of the aisle — are leaning for 2020.
The news comes on the heels of an earlier report that revealed Democrats have spent millions of dollars in taxpayer money to fund the months-long impeachment investigation.
Are you surprised that Republicans are raising millions from Americans who want to see an end to the impeachment ordeal? Let us know in the comments and don’t forget to vote on our daily poll below.
