Judge Judy Sheindlin, America’s favorite television judge for nearly the past two decades, may no longer hold that coveted title after she recently threw her celebrity starpower behind the campaign of former New York City Mayor (and mega-billionaire) Michael Bloomberg.
She was asked recently by CBS News why exactly she chose to stump for Bloomberg and her response rubbed quite a few of her fans the wrong way.
“I looked at the rest of the field and I said America is the greatest country in the world and it deserves greatness. And I looked at everybody else and I said, ‘I don’t see greatness there,'” the judge said.
Doubling down on her unexpected adoration of Bloomberg, Sheindlin described the former mayor as “innovative,” “courageous” and “beholden to no one.”
Obviously not a fan of President Donald Trump, Sheindlin then claimed that she believes that Bloomberg is the only candidate on the Democratic side who not only understands Trump, but is the only one who can go “toe-to-toe” with him in the 2020 election.
“Everybody else out there is just a lot of noise, I also think that he is the only person — you’re going to have an election in November, and you’re going to need someone who can stand toe-to-toe, who understands the incumbent, and who understands and appreciates how to manage him. I think he’s the only one who can do that,” Sheindlin said.
The judge, who is worth a reported $420 million, also made clear that she’s no fan of ultra-progressive politics, as she took a shot at Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders after she said America doesn’t need a “revolution.” It also might be because Sanders has pledged to slap a wealth tax on people in Sheindlin’s wealth class.
When Bloomberg announced Sheindlin had endorsed him, the social media response was heavily negative.
“OMG, I used to like her,” one user wrote.

“I’ve always loved Judge Judy, but I think she has poor taste on this matter. Maybe she’s friends with him, dunno why she would endorse this bozo,” a Judge Judy fan wrote.

“Will never watch again! Use to watch 5 days a week!” a former fan of her wrote on Facebook.
“Sorry Judge!! You are supporting the Wrong Man. I used to enjoy your Judge Judy Show!” another Facebook user wrote.
“1st time she’s ever disappointed me,” an obviously upset Facebook user opined.
As previously reported by Daily Sounder, Sheindlin appeared with Bloomberg over the weekend in Texas for a series of campaign events. While she’s one of the most highly-rated people in her style of television, the popularity apparently didn’t translate to in-person crowds, as several reports indicated that one of the events only drew about 45 people — a claim that was not surprisingly disputed by the Bloomberg campaign.
Only time will tell where all of the Democratic candidates end up in the polls, but as of now, Bloomberg barely registers on any of the early-state voting polls. Nationally, he sits behind former South Bend, Indiana Mayor Pete Buttigieg in fifth place.
