Just Hours After Mattis Turned Ugly On Him, President Trump Put ‘Mad Dog’ In His Place

Gen. James ‘Mad Dog’ Mattis, who only a few short years ago was celebrated as one of President Donald Trump’s finest cabinet picks as Secretary of Defense, turned shockingly ugly in the most unbecoming way of a military officer on his former boss on Wednesday, which was on the heels of violent race riots that have gripped America over the past week.

“Donald Trump is the first president in my lifetime who does not try to unite the American people—does not even pretend to try. Instead he tries to divide us,” Mattis said in a statement “obtained by CNN.”

“We are witnessing the consequences of three years without mature leadership,” Mattis continued, before adding more gas on the fire as he quickly began to sound like an echo-chamber of every anti-Trump CNN and MSNBC host on television.

But the president didn’t take long to respond to Mattis’ unprovoked attacks, issuing a statement about his former Defense Secretary on his social media channels that will likely silence the general once and for all.

“Probably the only thing Barack Obama and I have in common is that we both had the honor of firing Jim Mattis, the world’s most overrated General. I asked for his letter of resignation, & felt great about it. His nickname was ‘Chaos’, which I didn’t like, & changed it to ‘Mad Dog.’ His primary strength was not military, but rather personal public relations. I gave him a new life, things to do, and battles to win, but he seldom ‘brought home the bacon’. I didn’t like his ‘leadership’ style or much else about him, and many others agree. Glad he is gone!” Trump posted on Wednesday night.

Mattis’ disparaging, anti-Trump remarks on Wednesday came largely as a surprise to the media and political world, as the general has largely remained silent since his resignation from Trump’s administration, in which many believed he said everything he had to say in his very public resignation letter.

Reportedly, Mattis was “distressed” according to CNN, by the events that have unfolded in America over the past week that he felt he just couldn’t remain professional any longer.
