Democrats have worked hard over the last few months to sell Americans — particularly moderates and independents — on the idea of impeaching President Donald Trump.
However, according to Breitbart, a new survey shows that progressives aren’t having as large of an impact as they might have hoped.
A Reuters/Ipsos poll shows that a whopping 36 percent of independents have outright ignored the impeachment hearings in the house. Of the 64 percent of independents that have paid at least a modicum of attention, only 19 percent decided to take time out of their day to watch the inquiry live.
The rest either watched or listened to news summaries on various networks.
Additionally, the poll revealed that independents are the least engaged of the major political groups. As for those who watched the hearings on television, 26 percent of Republicans and 35 percent of Democrats tuned in.
“So long as this impeachment stays in the echo chamber of hyperpartisan Democrats and their allies in the media and doesn’t break through into the country … we have the advantage,” one administration official told Axios in an interview.
On Monday, Trump made public his confidence in the Republican party’s unity, slamming the “Fake News Media” and “Do Nothing Democrats” over their “fraud being played out against the American people.”
Never has the Republican Party been so united as it is now. 95% A.R. This is a great fraud being played out against the American people by the Fake News Media & their partner, the Do Nothing Democrats. The rules are rigged by Pelosi & Schiff, but we are winning, and we will win!

The Reuters/Ipsos survey was performed between the 14th and 15th of November, while former Ambassador Marie Yovanovitch was testifying. The margin of error is ± 3.3 percentage points over a sample size of 1,115 adults aged 18 or older.
Will the all-in by Democrats on the Trump impeachment inquiry be their saving grace or ultimate undoing in the upcoming 2020 election? Initial indications show it may be hurting more than it’s helping.
