As the hours passed in the wake of an historic impeachment vote in the Democrat-controlled House, Speaker Nancy Pelosi is facing backlash from all over for a variety of reasons, including her behaviors during the impeachment debate and vote and the idea that she might withhold the impeachment from the Senate.
According to The Daily Wire, the New York Post even joined in on the anti-Pelosi train on Thursday morning, publishing a brutal headline with a new nickname for the Speaker: “Swamp Mistress.”
“IT’S YOUR FUNERAL: Swamp mistress Pelosi dresses in black for historic vote,” the publication’s cover headline read.

The cover was accompanied by a scathing op-ed from columnist Michael Goodwin.
Both the op-ed and the cover come as Pelosi led the charge to impeach the president strictly with a party-line vote — something that no other impeachment trial has seen in American history, which also raises questions about the true intent of the Democrats behind the push to impeach the 45th president.
In the op-ed, Goodwin recounted how Pelosi was initially against impeachment while others, like Rep. Jerry Nadler, were pushing for the action long before anything happened with Ukraine.
“Impeachment is so divisive to the country that unless there’s something so compelling and overwhelming and bipartisan, I don’t think we should go down that path,” Pelosi told The Washington Post back in March.
She echoed the statement in June during an interview on CNN.
“I don’t think there’s anything more divisive we can do than to impeach a president of the United States, and so you have to handle it with great care. It has to be about the truth and the facts to take you to whatever decision has to be there. It should by no means be done politically,” Pelosi said at the time.
Goodwin, among others, believe that Pelosi’s push to impeach the president will be her undoing in 2020, along with a long list of other Democrats — especially the dozens of Democrats who voted for impeaching Trump who represent districts won by the president in 2016. They’ll likely have a lot to explain once they return home, presumably to angry constituents.
