Pelosi Wears Black To Impeachment Vote, Says She “Feels Sad” About Impeaching Trump

It’s a dark day in American history — a day that a duly-elected president is likely to be impeached by the House of Representatives over what Americans are beginning to see as a nothing-burger phone call between President Donald Trump and the Ukrainian President.

However, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi isn’t wearing black to the impeachment vote because of what she perceives as injustice against Trump, but because she is “sad” that she — in her mind — has to impeach a president for abusing his power.

While Pelosi was on her way to the House Chamber, CNN’s Dana Bash picked up on the attire when approaching her:

“Note: @SpeakerPelosi is wearing black. One of her colleagues told me several of the female Democrats did that intentionally to signal it is a somber day,” Bash tweeted.

“As she walked into the house chamber @SpeakerPelosi told me she ‘feels sad,'” Bash said in a follow-up tweet.

The social media response to Pelosi’s self-proclaimed sadness was strong.

“She will be feeling even sadder this time next year,” one individual tweeted, alluding to the Democrats being beat by Trump in the 2020 election.

Another made similar remarks: “Well, she is handing control of the House back to the GOP next November which will effectively end her career as the leader of her party in that chamber. So yes, I can understand her sadness.”

Recent polling has shown decreasing popularity in impeachment and a rising approval rating for Trump.
