Top CNN Host Turns On Joe Biden, Calls Him Out For Not Taking Sunday Interviews

Former Vice President Joe Biden, who is still slated as one of the favorites to win the 2020 Democratic presidential nomination, received some blowback from CNN on Sunday — a network typically friendly to most of the Democratic candidates.

According to Mediaite, CNN’s Jake Tapper interviewed former South Bend, Indiana Mayor Pete Buttigieg on Sunday during State of the Union. Toward the end of the interview, Tapper made very clear his gratitude for Buttigieg being a willing interviewee whenever Tapper calls on him, unlike Biden.

“We appreciate you coming in and taking our questions,” Tapper told Buttigieg. “Vice President Biden has yet to do a Sunday show interview, and I can’t even count how many times you have agreed to do interviews, so thank you for taking our question questions.”

According to Real Clear Politics, Biden leads the pack, nationally, with Sen. Bernie Sanders trailing him by a few points. But in some state polls, such as Iowa — the early-voting state set to caucus on Monday — Buttigieg isn’t far behind Biden, holding third place with 16.7 percent of support to Biden’s 21 percent. Sanders leads Iowa, at the current writing, with 24 percent.

You can watch Tapper’s full exchange with Buttigieg in the video below. Tapper calls out Biden at about the 10:15 second mark in the video.
