Virginia is in a Constitutional crisis at the moment, with legislators looking to determine whether or not several strict gun-control measures should pass.
But President Donald Trump seems to believe that the attack on the Second Amendment will come back to bite the left — even going as far as to thank Democrats for helping Republicans secure a victory in the state in the next election.
“Your 2nd Amendment is under very serious attack in the Great Commonwealth of Virginia. That’s what happens when you vote for Democrats, they will take your guns away,” Trump tweeted. “Republicans will win Virginia in 2020. Thank you Dems!”

Trump’s comments come after Governor Ralph Northam declared a state-wide emergency in preparation of one of the largest pro-gun rallies ever to be held.
Gun rights groups are saying that over 130,000 protestors are expected to show up at state capitol, according to the Washington Examiner.
However, tensions will be running high. Northam stated on Friday that they have “received credible intelligence from our law enforcement agencies that there are groups with malicious plans for the rally that is planned for Monday.”
In the last few months, over 100 counties and cities have signed resolutions deeming themselves “Second Amendment Sanctuaries,” safe from any gun control measures passed by the Virginia state legislature.
Several state representatives and senators in West Virginia have even invited these sanctuaries to leave their state completely and join the Mountain State in an unprecedented move.
The gun control measures are still being debated in the Virginia legislature and will be voted on in the coming weeks.
