On Tuesday, President Donald Trump took off the gloves and unloaded on Rep. Adam Schiff, the man spearheading the entire impeachment debacle in the House of Representatives.
“I think he is a maniac. I think Adam Schiff is a deranged human being. I think he grew up with a complex for lots of reasons that are obvious. I think he is a very sick man and he lies. He made up my conversation with the president of Ukraine,” said Trump during a break in the NATO summit, according to Fox News.

Some of these strong comments from the president come as a response to a stunt that Schiff pulled in September, in which Schiff read out a hyperbolic — and hyper-partisan — account of the president’s phone call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
“I have a favor I want from you,” Schiff said during a hearing about the controversial call. “And I’m going to say this only seven times, so you better listen good. I want you to make up dirt on my political opponent, understand? Lots of it, on this and on that.”
After conservatives blasted Schiff for promoting an erroneous version of the Ukrainian phone call, he tried to pass it off as a joke.
“My summary of the president’s call was meant to be at least, part, in parody,” Schiff said. “The fact that that’s not clear is a separate problem in and of itself. Of course, the president never said, ‘If you don’t understand me I’m going to say it seven more times.’ My point is, that’s the message that the Ukraine president was receiving in not so many words.”
But do the American people see what Schiff and many pro-impeachment Democrats are seeing? Not particularly — recent polls show that Americans are simply tuning out the impeachment inquiries and chatter, as they don’t see the issue at hand — the phone call between Trump and Zelensky — as being an offense worthy of impeachment.
